Forklift
The Forklift Operator course utilizes OSHA guidelines to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to properly operate a forklift. In addition to safety best practices, participants receive hands-on opportunities to ensure each understands equipment-specific stability requirements, fork adjustment protocols, fueling procedures, and other use issues. Upon completion of this course, a wallet card will be issued certifying that the student has completed Forklift Operator.
Backhoe Competent Person
The Backhoe Competent Person course provides entry-level operators with instruction on the proper operation of a backhoe and/or loader and general hazard awareness. Traditional classroom training provides participants with safe work practices, an understanding of machine mechanical systems, and operational techniques. Hands-on exercises utilizing a nearby facility or customer location provide students with operational skills development designed to ensure proper use of the equipment.
Loader Competent Person
The Loader Competent Person course provides entry-level instruction for the operation of both rubber-tired and track-mounted loaders and general hazard awareness. During classroom instruction participants are introduced to loader types, common configurations, and related attachments. Training provided also covers machine mechanical systems, safe work practices, and operational techniques. During field exercises, participants are provided hands-on opportunities covering standard operational scenarios designed to practice basic functions of the equipment and reinforce safety procedures.
Motor Grader Competent Person
The Motor Grader Competent Person course provides an opportunity to combine motor grader operation skills with roadway maintenance and construction knowledge and general hazard awareness. This course introduces operators to concepts surrounding proper operation of a motor grader. During field exercises, participants are provided hands-on opportunities covering standard operational scenarios designed to practice basic functions of the equipment and reinforce safety procedures.
Skid-Steer Competent Person
The Skid Steer Competent Person course provides entry-level to advanced operators with the concepts, objectives, and safety practices used during operation of skid steer machinery in construction zone settings of all types and general hazard awareness. During the course, information covering use and site issues are discussed surrounding building construction, road and highway construction, oil field operations, and pipeline work. During field exercises, participants are provided hands-on opportunities covering standard operational scenarios designed to practice basic functions of the equipment and reinforce safety procedures
Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics
The Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics course covers the OSHA Excavation Standard and safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching. Course topics include practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations, introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic), soil classification, and use of protective systems. Upon course completion, students will have the ability to assess their employer’s compliance with the OSHA Excavation Standard, determine protective systems for excavation operations, and training requirements.
