Disinfection Helps Prevent The Spread

Although many companies thoroughly ‘clean’ facilities, they rarely effectively disinfect them. Viruses and bacteria are thought to spread mainly from person-to-person. However, what is often overlooked is the possibility of contracting it through contact with a contaminated surface. When someone touches a surface or object contaminated with the pathogen that causes COVID-19 and then touches their own eyes, nose, or mouth, they may expose themselves to it. The virus can be detectable on surfaces like plastic and stainless steel for two to three days, making the spread even more likely. Therefore, virus prevention through disinfection is such a vital part of preparing your business to open its doors back up to the public.

Fogger Application

Eagle Safety Management uses disinfectant foggers in both our sanitation and protection services. There are several reasons this is a better application method over standard pump sprayers other companies typically use. First, foggers are faster than standard pump sprayers. A trained technician can disinfect approximately 15,000 square feet using a fogger. On average, this is 10X faster than a standard pump sprayer. Second, the fogging system reduces the particles to a much smaller size which helps provide better coverage and more even distribution of the chemical disinfectant. Lastly, since the particle size is smaller, there may be less of an impact on materials which are sensitive to moisture such as paper or fabric.

The Science

Eagle Safety Management uses an EPA registered, water-based, antimicrobial technology that provides persistent and continuous protection. Our product is a preservative antimicrobial coating that can be applied to both porous and non-porous surfaces to inhibit the growth of odor causing, and stain causing bacteria. This allows for avoiding the spread of colds and flus, viruses, fungus, and bacteria all year long. Product approved for use against SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

How It Works

When applied to a surface or incorporated into a material, our product forms a covalent bond with the substrate and creates a micro biostatic antimicrobial coating. The coating forms a nano-bed shield of spikes (self-assembling monolayer), each of which carry a positive charge that attracts the negatively charged bacteria. Once attracted, the molecular spikes pierce the cell and rupture its cell membrane, causing that bacterial microorganism to die.

Product Study

The product effectiveness was tested over a 3-month period at 3 different hospitals across the US with the testing being performed by third-party labs. Within each hospital, 2 to 3 high traffic areas were selected for testing including a variety of different substrates. Swab tests were performed every 15 days over a 3-month period. The tests were monitored by each hospital’s environmental supervisor and sent to the third-party labs for testing.

Hospital

Hospital is a teaching hospital located near downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The hospital’s emergency room is one of the largest trauma facilities in the country and can accommodate up to 86 patients simultaneously. The center is staffed 24-hours a day and admits more than 2,400 patients each year; 40 percent of those are referred from other hospitals throughout the region. No patient numbers were readily available for the inpatient facilities.

A significant decrease in microbes in all areas treated and tested at Hospital was found. In fact, the average decrease in harmful bacteria and microbes for the three rooms treated and tested at Hospital A was 97.85%
